Bespoke Wardrobe Case Study
The Clients Problem
Lisa & Carl had recently had their Derbyshire cottage developed and an en suite created in their master bedroom, leaving limited space for wardrobe storage (head to the portfolio page to see more projects we completed in this property). The freestanding wardrobe Lisa & Carl had was around 2 metres tall, meaning hanging space was all they had, and this freestanding wardrobe was leaving storage on the table in width too. I was asked to design a fitted wardrobe which filled the space and provided maximum storage.
Our Solution
The ceiling in the room was vaulted, with exposed wooden beams 2.7 metres from the floor, meaning we had plenty of room to gain storage. From wall to wall the space was just over 1.6 metres, so I suggested a bank of 3 doors, a larger cabinet to the right (double doors) with x2 stacked hanger rails as long hanging was not required. A single door width cabinet to the left, fitted with x4 drawers below and shelves above for a mix of storage solutions. We fitted a bank of cabinets above these to create storage for bedding, suitcases etc.
The Results
We handmade and fully fitted this custom walnut wardrobe, completed to the clients specifications. Lisa & Carl said the following: "Mike has exceeded all our expectations! The moment we met him he blew the competition away, and we knew we had to have him. It was worth the wait and every penny! He accurately translated our requests into great ideas, and executed them perfectly. The quality of materials used, and his joinery skills are fabulous, and he is professional, communicative, and on time. Thank you so much to you and your Dad Mike."
